Our Safe-T-Handle is much easier to use than traditional tap handles, and is Specifically Designed to work with 1-72 and 2-56 taps.
This is the 1-72 size which is typically used for early Redlines. Check our eBay store for the larger 2-56 size, which is used on newer castings.
This listing includes a high-quality 2-fluted 1-72 carbon hand tap and a T-Handle to drive the tap. The small tap creates threads in a 1/16″ pilot hole. This preps the car to receive a screw-in replacement rivet.
When running the tap into the pilot hole, always use oil on the thread of the tap for fluid threading action. When the tap stops, do not twist any further. It has bottomed out. You’re done threading the hole!
